The new leader of the Welsh Conservatives has reshuffled his front bench team in the Welsh Assembly.
Paul Davies AM, who was elected leader of the Conservative group earlier this month, has chosen Angela Burns as spokeswoman for health, Suzy Davies for education and Welsh language.
Former leader Andrew RT Davies, who quit in June, will speak on the environment, sustainability and rural affairs, while Russell George will speak on business and the economy.
Nick Ramsay remains finance spokesman; Darren Millar is chief whip, David Melding is housing, heritage, culture, and media; Mark Isherwood is communities and local government; and Janet Finch-Saunders has responsibility for social care, children, young people and older people.
South Wales East Assembly Member Mohammad Asghar, whose area covers Caerphilly County Borough, will speak on further education, skills, and faith, while fellow South Wales East AM Mark Reckless remains part of the Conservative group although he sits as an independent AM after defecting from UKIP.
Commenting on the changes Mr Davies said: “The Welsh Conservatives are steadfast in our belief that Wales needs a change of government and we provide that alternative.
“By the next election, Labour would have been in charge of our NHS, our schools, our economic strategy here in Wales for over two decades – longer than Putin has been ruling Russia.
“This reshuffle exploits the best talents of all our Assembly Members, and will demonstrate to the people of Wales our ability to govern, and turf this failing and complacent Welsh Labour Government out of office.
“Be in no doubt, Welsh Labour’s belief that they have a God-given right to hold and keep power in Wales is over, and we are the next government of Wales.”
With 12 members, the Conservatives are the second largest group of AMs in the Assembly. Unlike Westminster, where there is an official opposition to the government, there is no such thing as an official opposition to the Welsh Government.
