A Caerphilly resident has called for traffic calming measures to be introduced after a bus crashed into his house.

The crash happened on White Street, near Caerphilly town centre, at around 6.40am on Thursday morning (April 1).

Speaking to Caerphilly Observer, Brim Sorci said the crash “shook” the house and initially he thought it was an earthquake.

But it wasn’t the first time Mr Sorci’s home, which is on the corner of where White Street meets Bartlett Street, has been hit.

In April 2018, a car smashed through into his front room – with Mr Sorci and his family in the house at the time.

Before that, a bus crashed into his parked van, which had to be written off.

Mr Sorci lives in the house with his wife, eight-year-old son and five-year-old daughter.

Luckily, nobody suffered any major injuries during the latest incident.

Mr Sorci, who runs Nu Rose Tattoos on Clive Street, said: “Some of the rendering has come off the house, and the road sign has been taken out.

“Some of the print work has been scraped away showing the stonework underneath too. But other than it seems to be ok.

“The fire service had a look at it and said there was no structural damage.”

He added: “We need some sort of traffic calming up the hill. You often hear cars screeching going too fast.

“Some sort of barrier along the side of the road would be a good idea.

“Sooner or later, someone will be hurt. I don’t want it to be my family – or anyone else for that matter.”

Caerphilly County Borough Council has been contacted for comment.
