Primary school class told to self-isolate

A primary school class have been forced to self-isolate after coming into contact with a positive coronavirus case.

The class at St James Primary School, near Porset Park in Caerphilly are having to self-isolate for 10 days under Welsh Government rules.

Caerphilly Observer has asked Caerphilly County Borough Council how many pupils are having to isolate.

Primary schools have been open for in-class teaching since February, having been taught remotely at the beginning of the year due to lockdown restrictions

Coronavirus in Caerphilly

The latest figures released by Public Health Wales show there were 14 positive cases recorded in Caerphilly County Borough between April 17 and April 23.

There were 1,637 tests taken in the borough during this time frame, with 0.9% coming back positive. This is below the Wales-wide positivity average of 1.3%.

The incidence rate in Caerphilly over this period 7.7 cases per 100,000 people, which is again below the Wales-wide average of 11.9 cases.
