Four people arrested following early morning raids in Porset Park, Caerphilly, and Thornhill in Cardiff, have appeared in court.

A quantity of drugs, cash, high-value bikes, a moped and multiple phones were also seized on Tuesday, October 12.

Robbie Smith, 23, of Troed y Bryn, Penyrheol; Julie Smith, 52, of Coed Main, Porset Park, and John Jones, 32, of Ynys Las, Nelson, were all remanded in custody after being charged with various counts of supplying Class A drugs.

A fourth defendant, George Medcraft, 18, of Cwarrau Mawr Farm Lane, Penyrheol, was also charged with supplying Class A drugs, but was granted conditional bail.

All four are scheduled to appear at Newport Crown Court next month.

Police carried out the raids as part of Operation Adelaide, which is focussed on tackling ‘County Lines’.

This is where illegal drugs are transported from one area to another, often across police and local authority boundaries (although not exclusively), usually by children or vulnerable people who are coerced into it by gangs.
