Blackwood Beach Party, which was set to take place on Saturday, September 10, has been cancelled following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, aged 96.
Blackwood Town Council, which was organising the event with support from Caerphilly County Borough Council, made the announcement shortly after news of Her Majesty’s passing was announced on Thursday afternoon.
The annual event was last held in 2019, but was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic.
Caerphilly County Borough Council has said event organisers will be contacting stall holders, traders and other organisations involved in the event to discuss next steps.
In a tweet, Caerphilly Council apologised for the “disappointment and inconvenience” caused by the events cancellation but said: “The organisers feel it would not be appropriate to proceed with the event at this time.
“We are currently reviewing all other council run events over the next ten days and will provide further details later today as to whether they will be going ahead.”
It has not been announced whether or not the event will be rearranged for a later date.
