The Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10k will return on Sunday May 14 with entries now open.

The 2k fun run, which accompanies the 10k race, will also be return on that date.

The annual event, which returned last year following a Covid-enforced three-year hiatus, is organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The 10k race starts and finishes on Crescent Road, with the track leading runners in and around Caerphilly town centre, passing landmarks such as the castle and the Tommy Cooper statue along the way.

Last year, the 10k course record was smashed by Swansea’s Dewi Griffiths in what was his first attempt at the race.

Griffiths came in with a time of 29 minutes and 39 seconds – beating Matthew Clowes’ record of 30 minutes and 21 seconds set in 2019.

The winner of the women’s race was Olivia Tsim, who completed the 10k in 35 minutes and 44 seconds.

Visit events.kronosports.uk/event/184 to register for this year’s race.

Information on race packs, road closures and other details will be shared nearer to the date, the council has said.
