A new community orchard, with pear, apple and cherry trees, has been planted by school pupils and teachers in Nelson.
The orchard, on Maes Mabon, was planted by Llancaeach Junior School, with help from from council leader Sean Morgan and members of the council’s housing and parks team.
The planting of the orchard was made possible thanks to investment from the council’s Welsh Housing Quality Standard Environmental Improvements programme.
Cllr Sean Morgan, who represents the Nelson ward, said “It’s fantastic to see such enthusiasm from the young people who’ve taken part in the planting.
“As well as visibly transforming this green space, their efforts will provide trees bearing fruit free for the local community to enjoy for many years to come.
“I’d like to thank everyone involved in making this project possible.”
