Deri Library, which has been closed for a year due to storm damage, will reopen – but no timeframe has been set.
In February 2022, Storm Eunice damaged the library, on Bailey Street, meaning the building had to be closed until further notice.
A makeshift library at Deri Community Centre was set up to ensure library services continued.
However, Caerphilly County Borough Council has now confirmed the library will reopen – though a timeframe has not been confirmed.
In a statement provided in February, a spokesperson for Caerphilly County Borough Council said: “It’s been nearly a year since library services were suspended at the Bailey Street site and 11 months since we were able to offer a temporary library at Deri Community Centre.
“Work is progressing to reopen the site with a modern library refurbishment. Details and dates to follow.”
According to Caerphilly Library Services, residents and library users will now have the opportunity to help “reconfigure” and “reimagine” the library space by completing a survey.
Residents and users are encouraged to provide their opinions on the design of the space and the services and support needed.
The survey, called Community Voice, can be found in places such as the Health Centre, school and community centre and can be filled out in both Welsh and English.
Forms must be completed by Friday April 20.
