The annual Caerphilly Food and Drink Festival is set to return to the town centre this weekend.

More than 130 traders will be setting up their stalls for the event on Saturday April 29, with cookery demonstrations, entertainers and children’s funfair rides adding to the atmosphere.

The event, which is being organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council, will be held on Cardiff Road, Twyn Road, Castle Street and the Twyn Car Park between 9am and 5pm.

Council deputy leader Jamie Pritchard said: “This event is a fantastic opportunity to support the town and local businesses.

“Once again, we’re aiming to get Caerphilly town centre packed to create a fantastic atmosphere for what has always been a brilliant event.”

“The food festival is a food lover’s paradise,” said Cllr Pritchard, who added: “We are shaping our events program towards events that can benefit our town centres and to continue to make them vibrant places to visit.”

There will be a road closure through Cardiff Road and Twyn Road from 9pm on Friday April 28 to 9pm on Saturday April 29.

Spring fairs have already been held in Blackwood and Ystrad Mynach this year, with Bargoed May Fair being held on Saturday May 13.
