Nant-y-Parc Primary School in Senghenydd has become the first, and only, primary school in Wales to be given a prestigious award.

The school has been accredited with the World Class Schools Quality Mark joining around 140 other schools across the UK.

Handed out by an education charity, the accreditation recognises the skills of students in areas such as leadership, community, and learning.

Nant-y-Parc is one of just a handful of non-selective state schools awarded the mark in the 2023 academic year.

Teacher Emma Winter, who was the project lead for attaining the quality mark at the school, said: “We are so proud of this achievement and our pupils and parents have come together to compile the most incredible portfolios that demonstrate our learners’ skills, qualities and uniqueness.

“Nant-y-Parc Primary School is undoubtedly a special place to work and our learners wholeheartedly show world class qualities.”
