Caerphilly Town Council meets at the Twyn Community Centre
The event will be held at the Twyn Community Centre, Caerphilly

A national charity will be hosting a get-together to thank its dedicated volunteers, past and present, for their support.

It will be held at the Twyn Community Centre in Caerphilly between 10.30am and 12.30pm on Wednesday June 7, which falls during National Volunteers Week.

Home-Start Cymru, which is organising the event, is also hosting events in Carmarthenshire and Denbighshire that day.

Tea and biscuits will be provided.

The organisation, first set up 50 years ago, supports families with issues such as postnatal depression, coping with twins, bereavement, disabilities, domestic abuse or financial worries.

Home-Start Cymru has more than 150 trained volunteers, who will be invited, along with former volunteers, to attend the event to share memories and catch-up.

Jayne Drummond, chief executive of Home-Start Cymru, said: “We are so proud of our wonderful volunteers and the contribution they make in supporting parents locally.

“This national week gives us the perfect chance to let them know how special they all are. It’s also the ideal opportunity to raise awareness for anyone else in the community who might feel inspired to join the team.”

“There are many volunteer opportunities including visiting families in the community, office experience and trustee roles. If you’re a new parent who feels like Home-Start support might help, you can get in touch with us at info@homestartcymru.org.uk.”

“Alternatively, if you think you could give a couple of hours a week to provide a family with support, please contact volunteering@homestartcymru.org.uk to find out how to sign up.”
