Support is available to eligible households

Support is being made available to improve the energy efficiency of eligible households across Caerphilly County Borough.

Caerphilly County Borough Council is working with energy companies and Cardiff Capital Region to support those living in poorly insulated homes, as well as those with health conditions made worse by living in a cold home.

The aim is to help make these homes more energy efficient and lessen the impact of rising energy bills.

Who is eligible for the scheme?

Caerphilly Council is encouraging applications from households in the borough that:

  • Live in ‘off gas’ homes in rural areas;
  • Include individuals with certain health conditions;
  • Receive welfare support or have a household income of below £31,000;
  • Own or privately rent a home which is not energy efficient (i.e. has an Energy Performance Certificate of Band E, F or G.)

Energy companies, including EDF, will be investing in energy efficiency community schemes across the country as part of the ECO4 and ECO Flex schemes.

Cllr Shayne Cook, council cabinet member for housing, said: “During the current cost-of-living crisis, rising energy bills are a concern for many residents. This scheme aims to support those most affected, and I urge households who meet the eligibility criteria to get in touch.”
