Young people at the Senghenydd Youth Drop In Centre (SYDIC) have been kept busy with a range of activities over the summer holidays.
SYDIC has been working with Caerphilly-based social enterprise RecRock to run music activities for its youngsters, and is also running art and animation workshops.
As well as this, it has also been running trips to bowling, laser tag, ice skating and Ninja Warrior.
The aim of the sessions is to give young people something positive to do over the summer and to prevent them from potential antisocial behaviour.
Matthew Thorne, senior youth worker at SYDIC, said: “Thanks to funding from the community council we have been able to put on a range of events and activities during the summer holidays.
“We want to give young people something to look forward to over the summer, opportunities to try something new and have fun with their friends.”
SYDIC, which has been running since 1997, also receives support towards its youth provision from the Gwent Police and Crime Commissioner’s community fund.
Jeff Cuthert, the police and crime commissioner for Gwent, said: “It is fantastic to see these great opportunities being put on for young people in the Aber Valley, and that the young people are engaging well.
“We have supported Sydic for a number of years and the team are a real asset to the community, helping to support many vulnerable young people.”
