Debbie Cairns-Pitt joined her local Slimming World group in Newbridge

A slimmer who transformed her life by losing almost 16kg (2st 8lbs) is using her success for a new career helping others achieve their dream weight.

Debbie Cairns-Pitt joined her local Slimming World group in Newbridge almost a year ago and dropped from 95kg (15st 1lbs) to 79kg (12st 7lbs).

Debbie explained: “I saw a photo of myself and felt quite ashamed. The scales worryingly informed me that I was more than 15 stone – a weight I had never, ever, been.

“I was concerned for my health knowing that other family members had suffered with heart problems. My brother had a heart attack at the age of 45, so I knew it was time to take action.

“Nervously, I contacted my nearest Slimming World class and was contacted back by the consultant who was warm and encouraging. I first attended class on September 6, 2022 and was immediately invited to sit down with some of the other members who were really friendly, even though I’d never met them before.

“From that date, I have not failed to attend my class and have thoroughly enjoyed listening to everyone’s journeys.

“I knew trying to lose almost three stone wasn’t going to be easy, but there were members who had lost five, six and nine stone in weight, so I was determined.

“I started by changing the little things – how I cooked food, by simply changing to low calorie cooking spray, then what I cooked. This was made so easy by using the Slimming World app

“I made a conscious effort to scan foods using the app scanner to find out its syn value and quickly put things back when I realised just how unhealthy some things were.

“Now, many of the foods I eat on a daily basis are Slimming World recipes. I just feel so different, healthier and love the new clothes I can finally fit into.”

Having transformed her own life, Debbie has decided to train as a Slimming World Consultant and will be launching her own group next month.

Joanne Creese, who successfully runs Slimming World’s Ystrad Mynach group supports Debbie as a Team Developer and explains that consultants are chosen for their positivity and how they show they genuinely care for the health, wellbeing and happiness of others.

She said: “With Debbie’s kind and warm personality and great sense of humour, I just know that she’ll be an amazing support to members cheering them all the way to weight loss success.”

Debbie’s first group will be held on September 5 at Treowen Village Hall every Tuesday between 5pm 6pm and again between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
