Gerwyn Price has stormed into the World Grand Prix quarter-finals after beating Poland’s Krzysztof Ratajski in three straight sets.
Price, from Markham, sealed a 3-0 win in Leicester on Wednesday October 4, with all three sets going the distance.
The Iceman landed 120 and 116 finishes to clinch the opening set, before seeing off a spirited fight from Poland’s number one to win the second set.
Ratajski landed a 130 outshot midway through the third set, but squandered three set darts to halve the deficit before Price, who won the competition back in 2020, came back to punish him.
“I started off really strongly in the first set,” reflected Price.
“I found the pace of the game really difficult, but I’m just happy to get through and I’m into the quarter-finals, so I will put that one behind me.
“I’m defending a final spot from two years ago, so hopefully I can go one step better. I’ve already won this title before, so I know what it takes, but I need to play a lot better than that.”
