Did you know that there’s a local, award-winning candle business in Caerphilly town called Bwthyn? Husband and wife team, Ruth and Alun Hancock got creative during lockdown and opened a beautiful boutique on Cardiff Road – and they have an awesome story.

Bwthyn started as a small, family-owned candle business right here in Caerphilly. They handcraft each candle with love and attention to detail, using high-quality ingredients. Their home fragrances are based on memories, rich history, and mysticism of different locations around Wales.

Bwthyn walked away with not one, but two awards at last year’s Caerphilly Business Club Awards.

Start-up of the year and Independent Retailer of the Year – winning a Sky advert launching this November. Keep your eyes peeled for their awesome ad.

The good news is that Bwthyn has been gaining popularity and recognition for their unique and beautifully-scented products. They’ve received glowing reviews from customers. What makes Bwthyn special is their commitment to sustainability.

Bwthyn has worked with cosmetic assessors to be eco-friendly, cruelty-free and vegan-friendly. They use eco-friendly materials and packaging, ensuring that their candles are not only beautiful but also kind to the environment.

Another exciting aspect is their community involvement. Bwthyn often collaborates with local businesses, and hosts candle-making workshops, bringing people together and supporting local talent. It’s great to see a business like Bwthyn thriving and making a positive impact in our community. They’re a shining example of passion, creativity, and sustainability. We are extremely lucky to have them as members.

So, if you’re looking for some lovely candles to create a cosy ambiance or a unique gift, Bwthyn is worth checking out.
