Two boys aged 15 and 16 have been arrested on suspicion of carrying a firearm in Caerphilly, Gwent Police has said.

The force was called to a report of a person in possession of a “suspected air-weapon” in Mill Road, Caerphilly, at around 2pm on Monday October 23.

Caerphilly Observer understands Gwent Police’s search led them to Gwern y Domen, in the wooded area opposite Lansbury Park, where a police helicopter was searching, and armed police were seen on foot.

In a statement, Gwent Police said: “Officers attended, supported by specially trained firearms officers and the National Police Air Service (NPAS), and located two boys, aged 15 and 16, on an off-road bike, which was later seized by officers.

“Both were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm in a public place and are currently in police custody.”
