The former Caerphilly Cwtch pub is set to reopen in early December – with its new owners giving it a name change.
The Caerphilly Cwtch closed its doors in August and has since been taken over by Amber Taverns, which has more than 160 pubs across the UK.
Previously known as the Irish Thymes, the Station Terrace pub will be reverting to its original name – The Railway.
Sam Frankland, property director at Amber Taverns, said: “We are currently carrying out a major refurbishment of the building and will be taking it back to its roots by renaming it The Railway.
“We plan to open in early December and become a key part of the local community.”
He continued: “The Railway will be Amber Taverns’ seventh pub in south Wales and we hope to open more in the near future.”
The freehold for the Cwtch had been owned by London-based RedCat Pub Company since 2021.
“You made it such a fun place to work”
After announcing its closure in August, the Caerphilly Cwtch thanked its customers on social media.
The pub said: “It’s with regret that the Cwtch has now closed its doors for the last time. I would like to say a huge thanks to all of the customers which are all such characters, you made it such a fun place to work.
“I’d also like to thank all the entertainment that we’ve had in, the security team and most of all the staff that have been absolutely fantastic from day one, who have shown great loyalty and commitment during some difficult times.
“I’m sure our paths will cross again.”
