As much as £200,000 has been set aside over the next year for sports clubs looking to improve their facilities as part of Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Enterprise Fund.

The UK Government funding has been made available through Sport Caerphilly to help clubs buy equipment such as lawnmowers, CCTV, seating, sprinkler systems, and toilets.

The grant, which is being dished out on a first-come-first-serve basis, can also go towards IT, fencing, kitchen utilities, and tools.

Each club can fill in a form and apply for a grant worth up to £2,000.

Sport and leisure development manager for Sport Caerphilly, Jared Lougher, said the council is looking to “take the bureaucracy” out of applying for funding, and is encouraging more clubs of any sport to get involved.

This year’s round of funding ends on February 1, so clubs should apply as soon as possible through the form attached.

There are also guidelines for clubs who wish to apply, with some facilities such as floodlight and barriers not on the list.

Mr Lougher went on to say that some clubs have been hesitant to apply, thinking they had missed the window. However, he insisted there is still money available and the council is looking at applications right now.
