Bronia Conway volunteers with Perfect Fit

A clothing initiative which provides free workwear has relaunched with a new name at a fashion show.

‘Perfect Fit’ provides free interview-ready clothes or workwear for people who would otherwise not be able to afford them.

The project has been running for two years and has supported more than 300 people, enabling them to access work, voluntary and educational opportunities.

The project, which was previously known as ‘Working Wardrobe’, is run out of Bargoed Community Centre.

Now, it is exclusively run by mental health charity Platfform, through its Gwent Out of Work staff and volunteers.

To mark the change, volunteers took to the catwalk in a fashion show at the Bargoed hub on November 9.

Volunteers modelled the clothes available from Perfect Fit – including smart business suits.

Louise Edwards, Platfform’s Gwent Out of Work Partnership Lead said: “Our hub operates in the heart of Bargoed and is open to the whole of Caerphilly borough and beyond.

Why is Caerphilly in Gwent?

Caerphilly County Borough was formed on April 1, 1996, by the merger of the Rhymney Valley district of Mid Glamorgan with the Islwyn borough of Gwent.

Administratively, for local services such as the police and health, the borough now falls under a wider region referred to as Gwent. This comprises the council areas of Caerphilly, Newport, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent and Monmouthshire.

“Our band of volunteers are always on hand to provide the best service and the clothing is great quality. We appreciate donations of pre-loved good quality clothing, shoes and accessories to help people on their journey.”

Perfect Fit has received “great support” and generous good-quality clothing from the community, including from Deborah Crane at F&F clothing in Tesco Ystrad Mynach.

Suitable donations (clothing, shoes, bags and accessories) can be dropped off at Bargoed Community Centre.

Unopened and unused toiletries are also welcome.

Perfect Fit runs from Bargoed Community Centre every Thursday from 10am to 12.30pm. It is open to all Caerphilly County Borough residents.

The Working Wardrobe is the ‘perfect fit’ for all involved
