Bedwas and Bargoed are hoping to make it all the way to the Principality Stadium once again

Both Bedwas and Bargoed will be in action on Saturday January 20 when they play respective quarter finals against Brecon and Llangennech in the WRU Championship Cup.

Bargoed, who play in the National Championship East Division, will have home advantage over last season’s Division 1 West champions Llangennech in one of three ‘cross border’ clashes.

The Bulls overcame Division 1 Cup winners Newbridge 22-6 in the previous round in October to advance to the final eight.

Bedwas got through with tries from Tommy Chapman and Arwel Hughes on their way to a 29-21 home defeat of Trebanos – getting cup revenge on the team they faced in the Championship Plate final of 2022.

Home advantage at the Bridgefield will count once again for Bedwas as they face Brecon in another ‘cross border’ clash.

The fixture has an added twist with ‘The Chief’ Dale McIntosh having taken over as head coach and being joined by his son Dion McIntosh, who left Bedwas to play for Brecon.

Bedwas RFC director Peter Browning said: “Please support your local team. We got there two years ago and this is a big match for us.

“We are looking forward to a good battle and hopefully we’ll get some great support.”

Bedwas kick-off at 2pm at the Bridgefield, while Bargoed kick-off at 2.30pm at Bargoed Park.
