The poor weather meant most league games were postponed over the weekend

Due to cup fixtures and poor weather, few Caerphilly County Borough teams were in league action over the weekend.

Newbridge‘s clash with fellow-borough outfit Penallta was amongst the WRU National Championship East fixtures to be postponed, as was Cross Keys‘ visit to Cardiff Met.

Bedwas were in WRU Challenge Cup action, seeing off Brecon in the quarter-finals, while Bargoed‘s quarter-final with Llangennech was called off due to the weather.

But Ynysddu‘s promotion push continued with a 21-17 win over Bedlinog in League One East. However, Relegation-battling Risca suffered their tenth defeat in 11 games, falling 34-31 at Pontypool United.

Senghenydd‘s mid-table clash with Dowlais was postponed, as was Blackwood RFC‘s League Two East encounter with Usk.

Down in League Three East, league leaders Abercarn‘s match away at Fleur de Lys was postponed, as was Abertysswg Falcons‘ game with Blaina.

Machen‘s trip to RTB Ebbw Vale did go ahead – but it ended in a 22-15 defeat for the visitors.

Postponements also hit League Four East, with Crumlin‘s derby with Bedwellty, and Blackwood Stars‘ clash with Hafodyrynys, both called off. New Tredegar‘s home match against Whiteheads was also cancelled.

It was the same story in League Five East, with unbeaten league leaders Pontllanfraith‘s trip to Beaufort postponed.

One team that was in action was Cwmcarn United in League Six East. However, they were beaten 29-22 at home to Girling.

Deri‘s trip to Trinant was another game to fall victim to the weather.
