Ship Deck in Trethomas is nominated in two categories at the 2024 National Fish and Chip Awards.

Trethomas chippy Ship Deck has once again made it through to the final of the UK-wide National Fish and Chip Awards and is looking to be named best takeaway.

The chippy, on Newport Road, is also a finalist in the ‘Field to Frier’ category, which considers everything potato – including; where they’ve come from, how they fry, and most importantly, how they taste.

Partners Ryan and Kimberly Hughes opened Ship Deck in 2019 and have become finalists in the annual Fish and Chips Awards for the second consecutive year.

Ryan had previously told Caerphilly Observer: “This is still a very prestigious category, with chips obviously being a huge part of why we’re successful.

“A lot goes into making the perfect chip”.

The award ceremony takes place on February 28 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel in London.
