Commuters travelling on the Ebbw Valley rail line can now pay for their journeys using the contactless tap-in tap-out system.
Transport for Wales first launched the new system, which aims to make paying for journeys faster, as a pilot scheme earlier this year on journeys between Cardiff Central, Newport, and Pontyclun.
The Ebbw Valley line includes Newbridge, Crosskeys, and Risca and Pontymister stations.
It is hoped it will be expanded to all 95 stations along the South East Wales Metro by the end of this year.
Alexia Course, chief commercial officer for TfW, said: “We’re continuing to move forward with our ‘Pay As You Go’ payment option and I’m pleased that we’ve extended it to the Ebbw Vale line, adding on an additional eight stations.
“We’ll continue to expand throughout this year, making it easier for customers, improving their experience and attracting more people to use public transport.”
