Emporium Snooker Club wants to open a beer garden on land at the back of the property

Caerphilly County Borough Council has approved plans for a snooker club in Bargoed to open a beer garden.

Emporium Snooker Club Limited, at 41a High Street, applied for the planning permission back in January.

The plans show that the beer garden will be near the back of 44 to 46 High Street and next to a public car park.

The planning documents state the site is ‘directly accessible from the Emporium Snooker Club’.

A CGI sketch in the planning documents shows that the development will be made of wooden decking on two levels.

The council approved the proposals on Monday March 18.

There were no objections or comments from Bargoed Town Council, consultees or members of the public.

Cllr Dawn Ingram-Jones, who represents the Bargoed and Aberbargoed ward, wrote to the council’s planning department to support the application.

She said: “I would like to support the application as I believe additional facilities at the Emporium Snooker Club will be of benefit to the residents of Bargoed and surrounding areas.

“It will also, hopefully, improve footfall in the town and encourage regeneration.”
