Fresh off the back of their WRU Championship Cup victory at the Principality Stadium last weekend, Bargoed were back in league action on Saturday April 13.

The Bulls continued their title charge with a 36-8 win over Bedwas at the Bridgefield. The win sees Bargoed stay second, four points behind leaders Cardiff Met with four games in hand.

Elsewhere in the league, Newbridge smashed bottom-of-the-table Treorchy 48-8 at home, while Cross Keys climbed up to third after beating Ystrad Rhondda 36-26.

However, Penallta suffered a 50-36 loss at St Peters.

Meanwhile, Ynysddu stay third in League One East after beating league leaders Brynmawr 27-26 away from home.

But there were defeats for the other Caerphilly County Borough sides in that division. Senghenydd fell 36-27 away to Monmouth, while fourth-place Nelson lost 33-30 at home to Bedinlog.

Down in League Two East, Blackwood RFC earned a 22-5 win away to Pill Harriers, while Oakdale have risen out of the relegation zone despite a 46-22 loss at Croesyceiliog.

Over in League Two East Central, Caerphilly were beaten 56-36 at Llanishen.

Dropping down to League Three East, Machen lost in their 18th and final league game of the season – falling 17-7 away to RTB Ebbw Vale. It means Machen will finish the season one place above the relegation zone.

Elsewhere, Rhymney beat Llanhilleth 43-12, but their local rivals Abertysswg Falcons lost 26-12 away to Chepstow.

There was also disappointment for league leaders Abercarn, whose title hopes were dealt a blow with a 44-20 home loss to Blaina – who will go above them if they win their games in hand.

Meanwhile, Crumlin suffered a setback in League Four East, losing 26-24 at Bettws.

At the other end of the table, New Tredegar‘s survival hopes look thin, with the relegation-threatened side heavily beaten 52-14 at Crickhowell.

But Hafodyrynys gave themselves a fighting chance of staying in the division next season, beating fellow-relegation battlers Blackwood Stars 21-17 away.

Mid-table Bedwellty didn’t play over the weekend, with their trip to St Julians HSOB postponed.

There were celebrations for Pontllanfraith, who crushed West Mon 60-12 away to secure the League Five East title.

Deri meanwhile continued their title push with an 11-6 win at Tredegar Ironsides, but Trinant drop to fifth after losing 16-13 at home to Magor.
