Virginia Park Youth Centre has officially opened

A former golf clubhouse in Caerphilly has been reopened as a youth centre and pupil referral unit.

The new Virginia Park Youth Centre provides support and activities for people aged between 11 and 25, including cooking, arts and crafts, and the Duke of Edinburgh award.

Specialised support groups are also based at the centre, with help for young people looking to get into work or college also available, as well as homelessness support.

The centre is run by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Youth Service, which was recently awarded a Gold Quality Mark from the Welsh Government and Education Workforce Council.

Council deputy leader Jamie Pritchard said: “It is fantastic to officially open the Virginia Park Youth Centre and celebrate Caerphilly Youth Service achieving the Gold Quality Mark. I send my congratulations to all those involved for this outstanding achievement.

“We all look forward to watching our young people have a positive experience at the Virginia Park Youth Centre and I know the facility will be used and enjoyed by young people for many years to come”.
