Cascade U14s Girls side secured a league-cup double this season
Cascade U14s Girls side secured a league-cup double this season

In their first season playing 11-a-side football, Cascade-U14 girls have claimed an invincible league title and reached two cup finals

Coach Anny Lewis, who is also a first team player for the senior side, spoke to Caerphilly Observer about a “brilliant season”.

She said: “We knew the step up would be a big challenge, especially against some quality opposition.

“The committee set themselves the goal of winning the league, and we managed to do that winning every game, ending the season 11 points clear.”

Not only did the girls win the South Wales Women’s and Girls League Division One, but also reached two cup finals.

“It didn’t come easy. The players set their standards high and it helps that they’re a fantastic group as well as being friends off the field.

“Playing and training at the Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach has helped improve the standards, and we turned our home games into extremely difficult matches for our opposition.”

Lewis also coaches alongside Mia Kemp, another first teamer for the senior side. Lewis added how she hopes that inspires the young players to keep at it.

“As a coaching team and a club we are excited to see the girls continually develop and keep progressing. I have no doubt in the next few years they will be making their seniors debuts.”
