A bar on Bedwas House Industrial Estate has applied to serve booze until 4am on some days of the week.

Kedward Consultancy Ltd wants to extend the hours of its alcohol licence at The Unit, formerly Keds Cafe Bar.

The premises already have permission to serve drinks for on and off sales between 11am and 11pm, seven days a week.

But the new application lodged with Caerphilly County Borough Council is to extend those hours from 9am to midnight, Mondays to Thursdays; from 9am to 4am, Fridays and Saturdays; and from 10am to 11.30pm on Sundays.

The proposal also covers extending the premises to an upstairs area, into the neighbouring unit, and to more of the outside space.

Several of the existing licence conditions could also be removed if the application is successful.

Caerphilly Council’s licensing committee will meet on Tuesday June 11 to debate the application and hear representations from authorities including Gwent Police and the council’s own licensing officers.

The council did not receive any resident or business objections to the application when it was out for public consultation.
