The general election is on Thursday July 4
The general election is on Thursday July 4

Residents have up until midnight on Tuesday June 18 to register to vote in the upcoming general election.

Anyone not on the electoral register will not be able to vote. It takes five minutes to register, and can be done by following the link.

Those who are unable to cast their vote at a polling station on election day – Thursday July 4 – can apply for a postal vote.

Proxy voting allows voters to nominate someone else to cast their vote on their behalf. The deadline to apply to vote by proxy is 5pm on Wednesday June 26.

Who is standing in the general election?

Those intending to vote at a poling station must bring photo ID, otherwise they will not be able to vote.

A list of accepted forms of ID is available on the Electoral Commission’s website.

Anyone who does not have eligible photo ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate by 5pm on Wednesday June 26.

Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm on Thursday July 4. Polling cards will be sent to everyone who is eligible to vote. The poll card will give details of your polling station.
