Gerwyn Price ruled out of World Cup of Darts through illness

Markham’s Gerwyn Price has been ruled out of the World Cup of Darts due to health issues.

Price had been due to team up with Jonny Clayton in Frankfurt, Germany, as the pair looked to win their third World Cup of Darts title for Wales.

Price and Carmarthenshire’s Clayton, who won the competition last year having first won it in 2020, were the number two seeds going into this year’s edition, which gets underway on Thursday June 27.

However, Price has now been replaced by Jim Williams, who hails from Presteigne, Powys.

“I’m massively disappointed that I’m having to miss the World Cup and I always love representing Wales,” said Price.

“I wish Jonny and Jim Williams the best of luck this weekend and hopefully they can bring back the title again.”
