Islwyn’s Senedd Member Rhianon Passmore has had her suspension from the Welsh Labour Party lifted.

Ms Passmore was suspended on Wednesday June 26 after allegations her car was seen with two different number plates.

The allegations were published by the right-wing online blog Guido Fawkes, which reported Ms Passmore was “spotted driving out of the Welsh Parliament’s car park with her number plate hanging off, revealing a different one underneath”.

However, South Wales Police has said it had found no offences were made, with Welsh Labour responding by lifting the short-lived suspension on Thursday June 27.

South Wales Police told the BBC: “South Wales Police has looked into a report received concerning a defective number plate on a car which is parked within the Senedd car park in Cardiff Bay.

“It appears that the adhesive tape which secures the number plate to the car has become ineffective and the number plate has fallen off.

“The car remains on private property and as such, no offence has been identified. The owner of the car is aware of the matter.”

A spokesperson for Welsh Labour said it takes the conduct of its elected representatives extremely seriously and added: “All complaints are investigated in accordance with the party’s complaints procedures.”

Ms Passmore’s office has been contacted for comment.
