While singer Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour sold out Cardiff’s Principality Stadium last week, a group of enterprising and community-spirited mothers decided to make their own ‘Taylor-made’ party so that their young fans did not miss out.

The rush for tickets meant that many Welsh ‘Swifties’ didn’t get the chance to fulfil their Wildest Dreams to attend the show.

What started out as a casual school gate chat about a get-together at someone’s house soon turned into a full-blown party.

As the planned event grew, mothers Amy Jenner, Fiona Davies and Beci Newton (with grateful support from others) contacted Fr John Kelly at St Helen’s Church who kindly offered the use of the church hall on Nantgarw Road, Caerphilly, free of charge.

Local ice cream parlour Basil and Rusty’s donated ice cream and cones so everyone could also have a free ice cream.

The 100 tickets were quickly gone and while Taylor Swift played Cardiff on June 18, her fans in Caerphilly were also able to Shake it Off as The Eras Tour streamed on a big screen.

Bracelet making, face paints, glitter hair and t-shirt making were also available for the kids to enjoy all kinds of Taylor-themed fun.

The small charge for the event was only to cover costs but parents’ kind donations meant it made a £55 profit – compared to Taylor’s tour which is estimated to have grossed $1 billion.

The £55 has been donated to the PTA at St Helen’s RC School.

Mother Beci said: “The really relaxed atmosphere meant that the kids could enjoy everything at their own pace and get lots of selfies with friends and the Taylor cardboard cut-out.”
