A new piercing studio which opened in Caerphilly at the start of July has applied for planning permission for minor internal changes.

Empress Piercing has taken over the town-centre premises at 42 Cardiff Road, which was until earlier this year Aviary, a themed cocktail bar.

According to documents filed with Caerphilly County Borough Council, Empress Piercing owner Natasha Harries has applied for change-of-use planning permission that includes the addition of some partition walls to create three treatment rooms.

The work was reportedly completed before the business opened, meaning any council decision will be retrospective.

“Within the studio we will perform all body piercings, as well as sell jewellery and piercing aftercare solutions,” Ms Harries said in her application to the council.

Documents show Empress Piercing will employ four full-time and two-part-time staff at its Caerphilly studio.

The company also has piercing studios in Barry, Bridgend and Cwmbran.
