A “redundant” former post office in Bargoed could be turned into flats, according to new plans.

The property at 41 McDonnell Road, which was also previously The Olde Post Cafe and Shoppe, has been earmarked for redevelopment as three one-bedroom “self-contained” flats.

There is already an existing flat on the first floor of the premises, documents submitted to Caerphilly County Borough Council show.

According to the plans, applicant Neil Carter has proposed building two flats on the ground floor, and a third on the first floor of the property.

Each flat will have its own access, and will include a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and living room area.

The application for change-of-use planning permission is currently out for consultation, and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website under reference 24/0434/COU.
