Cascade Ladies and coaches took part in the annual charity match once again

Cascade Ladies have raised more than £1,300 for two charities after hosting its annual Terry Hillman memorial match in memory of their late kit man.

Mr Hillman had been at the club for more than ten years, before sadly passing away in 2022 after being diagnosed with cancer.

Since then, the club has hosted a memorial match from their base at the Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach, raising money for Myeloma UK.

Speaking to Caerphilly Observer, player and coach Anny Lewis said: “We kicked-off the first match in 2022, with the dads of the younger age groups versus the ladies’ teams – with a few coaches joining us.

“This year we played against Rose’s Way Foundation FC, who are a team very close to our hearts and a charity the ladies wear on their shirt sleeves and support at any opportunity.”

The sides played earlier this month and managed to raise more than £1,300, with Rose’s Way Foundation FC securing the trophy this year.

“All proceeds were split between Myeloma UK and Roses Way. It was a great day for the club to come together, especially friends and family of Terry to raise so much money and celebrate the fantastic support Terry and his family offered to Cascade.”
