Fourty-eight young athletes took part in the competition

Fourty-eight young athletes have received outstanding performance awards after competing in an athletics competition in Oakdale.

The Rhymney Valley Athletic Club Mini Quad Event, which was held at the Oakdale athletics hub on July 10 included running, jumping, throwing, and an endurance challenge.

The competitors were aged from below seven, up to the age of 11.

They all received awards following the event for their exceptional efforts and sportsmanship.

Deb Howells, chair of Rhymney Valley Athletics Club, said: “We are incredibly proud of all the young athletes who took part.

“Their dedication and enthusiasm were truly inspiring. This event highlighted the importance of youth engagement in athletics and the fantastic opportunities available at our club.”
