Grants have been made available for residents to make their homes more energy efficient.
Eligible households whose homes have coal fires, back boilers or single-glazed windows will be able to apply for help to make their homes warmer in the winter.
To be eligible for an energy crisis grant applicants:
- Must be an owner occupier or private sector contract holder (tenant), living in the property for at least 12 months;
- Have a household combined gross income of £31,000 or less, or a person in the property is vulnerable to the effects of living in a cold property;
- Homes must be considered energy inefficient (the council is able to assess this for residents);
- Privately rented properties must be compliant with all current regulations (an energy rating of D or E).
- Any measure installed within the property must be of a value that can be proven to improve the energy rating of the property.
- The property must have been occupied by the applicant for a period of no less than one year.
