Caerphilly County Borough Council has urged residents to check their eligibility

Grants have been made available for residents to make their homes more energy efficient.

Eligible households whose homes have coal fires, back boilers or single-glazed windows will be able to apply for help to make their homes warmer in the winter.

To be eligible for an energy crisis grant applicants:

  • Must be an owner occupier or private sector contract holder (tenant), living in the property for at least 12 months;
  • Have a household combined gross income of £31,000 or less, or a person in the property is vulnerable to the effects of living in a cold property;
  • Homes must be considered energy inefficient (the council is able to assess this for residents);
  • Privately rented properties must be compliant with all current regulations (an energy rating of D or E).
  • Any measure installed within the property must be of a value that can be proven to improve the energy rating of the property.
  • The property must have been occupied by the applicant for a period of no less than one year.

For more information and to check eligibility contact Caerphilly County Borough Council’s private sector housing team on 01443 811378 or email privatesectorhousing@caerphilly.gov.uk
