Sisters Ruth and Lucy Bridge from Caerphilly

Sisters Ruth and Lucy Bridge went back in time when they went to Newbury’s Retro Festival for the weekend.

Dressed to the nines, 1940s style, they were taking part in the annual event held in the town’s showground.

The weekend was packed with music, shopping and fun, with guests able to camp on site.
Bands covered a range of eras, including jive, rock n roll, the Mod era and swing. Visitors had the chance to dance along on specially installed dancefloors, while lessons ensured even the beginners could take part.

A large exhibition of vintage vehicles, including military machines from between the first and second world wars, were on hand, and a fairground added to the fun.

The Bridge sisters, from Caerphilly, are big fans of the three-day celebration of everything vintage.
“We come every year,” said Ruth.

“We have always been into retro, we love the vintage.

“The event is very chilled and laid back and has a nice environment.”

Tickets for next year’s event have gone on sale, they cost from £10.50, with entry for under 16s free.
Camping slots can also be reserved.

Visit www.retrofestival.co.uk for more information on the event, which will run next year from Friday, August 8, through to Sunday, August 10. The venue will again be Newbury Showground.
