Wales’ men’s side are set to play their first game under new manager Craig Bellamy on Friday September 6, as Transport for Wales (TfW) announces additional rail services.
TfW says it has been “working closely” with the Football Association of Wales to “prioritise and strengthen services” for travelling fans as Wales take on Turkey at the Cardiff City Stadium.
There will be regular trains running from Grangetown to Cardiff Central on Friday night, with the following lines announced as having additional trains from Cardiff Central.
- Cardiff Central to Ystrad Mynach: Last train 11.22pm
- Cardiff Central to Rhymney: Last train 10.34pm
- Cardiff Central to Ebbw Vale: Last train 11.02pm
Marie Daly, customer and culture officer, said: “At TfW we’re proud to be delivering a transport network that supports major events throughout Wales.
“So far this year, we’ve successfully provided rail services for five major sporting events bringing in over 100,000 fans to Cardiff and this summer’s event calendar has seen us bring in additional 164,000 music fans.
“We’re now looking forward to the Wales v Turkey match this Friday and to transporting fans to and from the game.
“We’ve planned additional rail services and strengthened certain routes that will provide more capacity for travelling fans.
“We expect services to be busy and we encourage fans to allow plenty of time for their journey.”
