Risca food festival, open mic nights, and markets. What’s on this weekend and beyond

🎵 Local band Chaos Light will be performing at Case Cafe, on Afon Court, Bedwas House Industrial Estate, tonight (Friday September 13) at 9pm.

👻 There are still places left to take part in a ghost hunt at Newbridge Memo tonight between 8pm and 2am. Tickets, costing £22, are available from organisers That’s the Spirit.

🖊 ‘Bonkers Bingo’ is at Caerphilly Conservative Club tonight. 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start. Entry is £12 on the door.

🍔 Risca Food ‘Feastival’ is set to return to the town centre on Saturday September 14.

The event, which will be held at Tredegar Park, Risca, runs between 10am and 4pm and will be free to visit.

Celebrity chef Dean Edwards will be in attendance to perform a cooking demonstration, and will also host a meet-and-greet and book-signing session.

Free public parking is available at Tredegar Terrace car park and Risca Rail Station.

🧷️ Sex Pistols tribute act The Vacant Pistols will be at Caerphilly Workmen’s Hall this Saturday (September 14). Tickets are £10 from the hall’s website or £13 on the door. Age 18+ only.

🏛 Cadw will be holding free one-hour guided tours of Newbridge Memorial Hall and Institute on Saturday September 14, and September 21.

The hour-long tours will run between 11am and 2pm. Visit Newbridge Memo’s website to book a place.

👩‍❤️‍👩 Representatives from the Rudry, Aber Valley, and Caerphilly branches of the Women’s Institute will be in Caerphilly Asda on Saturday September 14 between 10am and 1pm.

The three branches are keen to speak with people interested in becoming members – especially those from diverse backgrounds.

If you cannot make the day, the branches are still encouraging those with an interest to attend their regular meetings.

Aber Valley meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7.30pm at Senghenydd Community Centre; Rudry on the second Tuesday of the month at Rudry Community Centre Hall at 7.30pm; and Caerphilly on the fourth Wednesday of the month at Twyn Community Centre at 2.30pm.

🍪 Caerphilly Craft Fair, run by Craft Legs, returns to the town around the Cenotaph and outside Y Galeri Caerffili on Saturday September 14. Get your crafts, gifts, and treats from 10am to 4pm.

🎲 Caerphilly Table-Top and Gamers Society will be holding their regular monthly meeting at Caerphilly Library on Saturday September 14 between 10am and 4pm.

🥪 A picnic in the park is being held at Riverside Park, Trethomas, on Saturday September 14 between 12pm and 4pm. Attendees can bring their own picnics, with free drinks and food provided. There will also be a variety of games and fun for all the family.

The event will be held outdoors at Riverside Park, so attendees are advised to wear sensible clothing.

Parking will be available off Pant Glas Industrial Estate Road. No booking required.

🎤 Open mic night at the Green Lady, Pontygwindy Road, Caerphilly, Saturday from 8pm.

🦅 Playing the music of The Eagles are the West Coast Eagles, who will be performing at Caerphilly Social Club on Saturday. Tickets are £7.

🎤 🐷 The fortnightly Flying Pig open mic night is returning to the newly reopened Angel Bar and Grill in White Cross Lane, near Hendredenny, Caerphilly, Sunday September 15.

Names for those wanting to take part will be taken on arrival from 7.15pm. Please bring your own instruments and mics.

♟️ A new regular games and collectables market is to begin on Sunday September 15 at Ffos Caerfilli between 10am-4pm. The new market will then be held on the third Sunday of every month.

🚶‍♂️ Abertridwr-based mental health walking group Men.Walk.Talk will be holding its regular walk this Sunday. Meeting at Aberfawr Rd, Abertridwr, and setting off at 9.30am.

📷 Newbridge Memo is holding free photography workshops every Tuesday between 1pm and 2.30pm from starting on Tuesday September 17 and running until October 15. Visit Newbridge Memo’s website to book your place.

️⚽️ Caerphilly Castle Ladies and Girls Football Club will be holding a walking football training sessions for women over 35 at 6.45pm on Tuesday, at the Y Gwyndy campus of Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni on Pontygwindy Road, Caerphilly.
