Bargoed won their first game of the season at Narberth

Bargoed have earned their first league win of the season, with a 19-0 home victory over Narberth in the National Division Premiership.

But there were defeats for both Cross Keys and Newbridge in the division over the weekend.

The Keys fell 40-27 at home to Brecon, while Newbridge were beaten 25-13 at home to Neath.

However, there were better results for Caerphilly County Borough’s sides in the National Championship East.

Penallta beat Mountain Ash 22-11 in Ystrad Mynach, while Ynysddu won on their travels, defeating Cambrian Welfare 28-26.

Bedwas, who are also in that division, were not in league action over the weekend.

Down in Division 1 East, Senghenydd made it two wins from two with a 23-15 win at home to Blaenavon. However, Nelson lost 27-19 away to Newport HSOB.

Meanwhile, Blackwood RFC now sit top of Division 2 East – albeit after just two games – following a 19-6 win over Blaina to maintain their winning start.

What leagues will Caerphilly County Borough’s rugby union sides play in this season?

However, Risca have now lost their first two games, after a 20-14 home loss to Caldicot, while Abercarn are also winless after a 36-31 defeat at Usk.

Over in Division 2 East Central, Caerphilly top the table after two wins from their first two games, having beaten St Albans 26-20 away this weekend.

Moving down to Division 3 East, Fleur de Lys edged Rhymney away from home, winning 38-35 in a high-scoring affair.

But they were the only Caerphilly County Borough side to earn a victory in that tier.

Abertysswg Falcons suffered a disappointing 33-0 loss at Nantyglo, while Oakdale lost 37-23 at home to Caerleon.

Elsewhere, Machen were beaten 26-21 away to Chepstow.

In Division 4 East, Bedwellty secured local bragging rights with a narrow 29-26 win at home to Crumlin, while it was a weekend to forget for Pontllanfraith, who lost 77-17 at Gwernyfed.

There was better luck for both Hafodyrynys and Deri in Division 5 East, with both teams on the right side of heavy drubbings.

Hafodyrynys beat West Mon 64-16 at home, while Deri cruised to a 61-3 victory away to Magor and now sit top of the division.

Hollybush were also victors over the weekend, beating Beaufort 20-17.

However, Blackwood Stars fell 57-24 in a high-scoring clash away at Tredegar Ironsides.

There was also a defeat for Cwmcarn United, who were beaten 29-22 at home to Brynithel in Division 6 East A, in what was their first league game of the season.

In Division 6 East Central, Bargoed Athletic beat Cardiff Met Athletic 19-12 at home, but Penallta Athletic were beaten on the road, losing 32-21 at Tondu Athletic.
