Friday October 18

🎼 Eban Brown – Former Lead Singer of The Stylistics is performing at Blackwood Miners’ Institute at 7.30pm. Tickets available from the venue’s website and cost £20.

Saturday October 19

🍪 Bargoed Craft Fair and Market, run by Craft Legs, returns to the town’s Lowry Plaza. Get your Halloween and Christmas crafts, gifts, and treats from 10am to 4pm.

📖 Author Tom Bullough is giving a talk on his book Sarn Helen: A Journey Through Wales, Past, Present and Future at Bargoed Library between 11am and noon; and at Caerphilly Library between 2pm and 3pm. Email libbarg@caerphilly.gov.uk or call 01443 864714 to book a place at Bargoed, or libcaer@caerphilly.gov.uk and  029 2085 3911 for Caerphilly.

🎵 Funny and at times poignant drama Novello & Son is at Newbridge Memo and contains a selection of Ivor Novello’s best-loved songs with his doting mother (played by Rosamund Shelley) singing them. Tickets cost £10 concession and £12 standard for this one-hour show starting at 2pm. Available from the Memo website.

🎺 BTM Brass Band is performing in aid of St David’s Hospice at St Martin’s Church, Caerphilly. Tickets cost £10 and are available by calling 029 2088 3661. Tickets also available on the doors, which open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

🕶 Blackwood Miners’ Institute presents The All New Blues and Soul Revue – Blues Brothers Tribute. Tickets are £24 and £22 concession. Show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets available from BMI website.

Sunday October 20

🛼 Get your skates on at Sue Noake Leisure Centre, Ystrad Mynach. The regular weekly session is being held between 10.45am and 11.45am. All abilities welcome.

♟️ A games and collectables market is being held at Ffos Caerfilli between 10am and 4pm. 

🍁A Harvest Fesitval celebration is taking place at St John’s Church, Machen at 10am.

Tuesday October 22

📺 Fifty years of soap opera Pobl y Cwm is celebrated with an evening looking at the show’s significance in Welsh language broadcasting. Presenting this bilingual chat at 7.30pm at Blackwood Miners’ Institute will be Ieuan Rhys (better known as Sgt James). Tickets cost £18 con/£22 and are available from BMI website.

Wednesday October 23

🏢 A careers and jobs fair is being held at Penallta Rugby Club in Ystrad Mynach between 3.30pm and 6.30pm. Held with Coleg y Cymoedd, free tickets can be reserved online.

Thursday October 24

🎭 Ad-hoc theatre bring their touring production of ‘Blue Remembered Hills’ by Dennis Potter to Caerphilly Workmen’s Hall. Doors open at 6.30pm for 7pm curtain up. Tickets cost £12 from Caerphilly Workmen’s Hall website.

🎸 The Zoots Sounds of the 60s Show features the music of The Beatles, The ‘Stones, and The Kinks and many more. Tickets for the Blackwood Miners’ Institute 6.30pm show cost £18 con/£22 and are available from BMI website.

👮 There will be a murder mystery event at Ffos Caerffili at 6.30pm. Can you solve the whodunnit? Tickets cost £10 and are available online.

Friday October 25

🤟 Live music with Doomsday Outlaw, The Black Vultures Band, and Sour Tusk, at The Fork and Tune Cwmcarn Hotel at 7pm. Tickets cost £10 and available online.

🕺 Thank ABBA for the Music at Blackwood Miners’ Institute at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £22 con/£24 and are available from BMI website.
