Halloween is here. What’s on this weekend and beyond

Friday October 25

🤟 Live music with Doomsday Outlaw, The Black Vultures Band, and Sour Tusk, at The Fork and Tune Cwmcarn Hotel at 7pm. Tickets cost £10 and are available online.

🕺 Thank ABBA for the Music at Blackwood Miners’ Institute at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £22 con/£24 and are available from BMI website.

🎩 Magical Cabaret with the Great Baldini is at the United Services Club, Forge Road, Machen, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12 on the door.

🎸 The Coopers Arms in Ystrad Mynach plays host to the live music of Guardians of Public Morality. Free entry at 9pm.

Saturday October 26

🎃 A Halloween extravaganza with pumpkin carving, arts and crafts, and fancy dress is being held at Penybryn Hall, Penybryn, Hengoed, between 11am and 1pm. £5 entry.

✊ A night of Northern Soul is at Studio 54, on Blackwood High Street, at 6pm. Admission on the door is £7.50

👑 Queen tribute The Bohemians are at Caerphilly Workmen’s Hall at 7pm. Tickets cost £20.90 and are available online.

🎼 Caerphilly Ladies Choir is holding a charity concert, in aid of Kidney Research Wales, at St Martin’s Church at 7pm with special guests Kanerien Ar Goelo, Brittany. Tickets are £7 or pay at the door.

Sunday October 27

🧹️ Fabulous family fun with Wize Productions bringing its Pocus Hocus Halloween show to Caerphilly Workmen’s Hall. Doors open at 5.15pm for a 6pm curtain up for this two-hour show (with interval). Tickets cost £6.60 and are available online.

Tuesday October 29

🖌 Create Caerphilly is holding a series of Halloween craft workshops at The Old Library in Morgan Jones Park, Caerphilly.

10am – 11am: Make a Magical Lantern; 11.30am – 12.30pm: Sculpt a Dragon’s Eye; 1pm – 2pm: Spooky Slime; 2.30pm – 3.30pm: Glow Painting Skull. Each workshop costs £8. For full details and to book visit www.createcaerphilly.co.uk

Wednesday October 30

🎭 You Choose –  an interactive musical show for all the family is at Blackwood Miners’ Institute with two showings – 11am and 2pm. Tickets cost £9.50 and are available from the BMI website.

Thursday October 31

💀 Ffos Caerffili is holding a free all-day Halloween ‘spook-out’ with plenty of activities for children between 12pm and 6pm and there’ll be a silent fancy dress disco between 7pm and 11pm for adults.

Friday November 1

🧟‍♀️ A Halloween Movie Marathon is at Newbridge Memo from 3pm to midnight. Free tickets available from the Memo website or collect on the door.

🎤 A night of comedy at Blackwood Miners’ Institute with Leroy Brito, Tom Toal, and James Cook at 8pm. Tickets cost £15 and are available online.

Saturday November 2

🎃 A children’s Halloween party (for ages four to 11) is being held by Blackwood Town Football Club between 12pm and 2pm at The Rolling Jack at Islwyn Indoor Bowls Centre in Pontllanfraith.

Tickets cost £8, with money going to the club, and can be bought online.

The football club is also hosting a ‘Roaring 20s’ themed Halloween party at the same venue between 7pm and 11pm. Tickets for this event cost between £10 and £15 and can be bought online here.

🤠 Calling all barn dancers. Shappelles Dance Centre in Ystrad Mynach is holding a ‘rootin, tootin’ dance event in aid of Velindre. Fancy dress welcome. Tickets are available from the centre at £15 for adults and £10 for under-16s.
