An independent bike shop has moved into a bigger unit in Caerphilly thanks to more than £28,000 of UK Government funding.

BikeShredz Ltd, which was previously based on Pentrebane Street, has moved to Caerphilly Business Park – allowing it to grow further and introduce new services.

The funding came from the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which was administered through Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The money has helped towards security within the store, advertising, IT, and new equipment.

The business, which provides bespoke bike builds and repairs, will now be able to offer bike rentals from its new base, which is not far from Van Road Trails.

The rental scheme is aimed at increasing accessibility to cycling in the area.

Owner Nicholas Ball said: “The move to a larger unit is a significant milestone for BikeShredz Ltd. The support we’ve received from the UK Government and Caerphilly Council has been instrumental in making this expansion a reality.

“As a local bike shop, space is incredibly important, as is our location. Pairing the two is often a huge challenge.

“With help from the council’s business team it has enabled us to secure a location that not only works for us but offers a much easier solution for our customers.”

Council deputy leader Jamie Pritchard, who is also the cabinet member for prosperity, regeneration, and climate change, visited the new store and said: “It was good to catch up with Nick to discuss how his new move has led to a successful first few weeks. We wish BikeShredz every success for the future”.
