With the festive season nearly upon us, Caerphilly County Borough Council has launched its annual Christmas appeal.

Operation Santa aims to provide Christmas presents to children in the borough at risk of not receiving presents.

The council is asking residents to pledge cash via its fundraising page to ensure children will receive a gift for Christmas.

If you’d prefer to purchase a gift voucher, please do not wrap the voucher, instead place it into an envelope marked ‘Operation Santa’, and the value of the voucher inside.

The council has asked to limit the value of each individual gift voucher to £10.

The voucher needs to be taken to a collection centre at one of the following venues by Friday November 29:

  • Bargoed Library (CF81 8QR)
  • Blackwood Library (NP12 1AJ)
  • Caerphilly Library (CF83 1JL)
  • Newbridge Library (NP11 4FH)
  • Rhymney Library (NP22 5NU)
  • Risca Library (NP11 6BW)
  • Ystrad Mynach Library (CF82 7BB)

Alternatively, you can make a pledge by calling 01443 866577 or emailing operationsanta@caerphilly.gov.uk

Cllr Elaine Forehead, cabinet member for social care, said: “Operation Santa brings joy and Christmas spirit to children who wouldn’t receive a present at home. It is such a worthy cause and can only be achieved through the generous donations from businesses and residents of the borough.

“On behalf of Caerphilly County Borough Council, I would like to thank all of those who continue to support Operation Santa, either in previous years or this year. I look forward to seeing the success of Operation Santa 2024.”
