Newbridge Memo
Newbridge Memo hosts a dementia support group each Monday

A dementia support group in Newbridge is calling for new members after studies show a positive change for those attending.

According to new data, 81% of attendees with caring responsibilities at dementia groups noticed improvements in their loved ones, including positive changes in mood, appetite, attention, and wellbeing.

Newbridge Dementia Support Group runs a weekly session from Newbridge Memo between 10am and 12pm on Mondays, and is hoping to see more people with dementia and their carers attend.

The group is also asking for volunteers to help run the service, with tasks such as helping members on arrival, as well as providing friendly conversations.

Dr Rachel Fox, national dementia development manager at Royal Voluntary Service said: “Dementia is a growing challenge, with rates expected to rise to 1.4 million by 2040.

“The impacts are far-reaching and with no effective medical treatment yet available, it’s becoming increasingly crucial to offer more support to all those affected.

“We are inviting residents from in and around Newbridge to be part of the solution and volunteer at these important groups. We also have spaces for new attendees.”
