Sports clubs across Caerphilly have ten weeks to apply

Sport Wales has reopened its ‘Be Active for Wales’ grant scheme, which will enable sports clubs to buy equipment and enhance their facilities.

Using National Lottery money, Sport Wales is offering grants of between £300 and £50,000, with the application period set between Monday November 4 and Monday January 13, 2025.

In total, Sport Wales has announced £1million worth of funding available.

The grant scheme had previously been open, but Sport Wales had to temporarily pause it having been “inundated” with applications.

The first stage for any club or community group interested in funding is to fill out the community investment expression of interest form.

Should your idea be eligible for the grant funding, you will be contacted by Sport Wales’ investments team.

When assessing eligible applications, the community impact of a project will be the key point taken into consideration.

Owen Hathway, Sport Wales’ assistant director for insight, policy and public affairs, said: “The volume of applications made to the Be Active Wales fund this year has been the most we have ever received. We look forward to seeing how clubs and community organisations aim to use the remaining funding to drive Welsh sport further forward, and we will support as many of them as possible.

“However, we do only have £1m remaining, so there is a possibility that some eligible applicants won’t be supported during this financial year. They will of course be able to reapply when the fund reopens for the new financial year in April 2025.”

For more details or to help with your application, you can email BeActive@Sport.Wales or call 0300 3003102.
