Treowen Stars will travel to Aberdare for the next round of the cup

Round four of the Amateur Trophy has been drawn, as the last remaining Caerphilly-based side discovered their opponents.

Ardal South East side Treowen Stars are the final borough side left in the competition, after thumping Cardiff Corinthians 5-0 in the last round.

The Stars have had a brilliant season so far, topping the league after 11 matches as they look to join fellow borough outfit Trethomas Bluebirds in the Cymru South next season.

If they wish to also push for cup success, they’ll need to beat South Wales Alliance Premier League side FC Cwmaman in January.

Cwmaman, who play in the same league as Caerphilly Athletic and Aber Valley, are eighth in the division, but made it through to round four with a 3-2 win over Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochant last weekend.

It’ll be a relatively short trip to Aberdare for Treowen, who should fancy their chances against lower league opposition.

The tie is due to be played on either Friday January 17 or Saturday 18, with the winner making it through to the final eight.
