Two people have been taken to hospital following a collision in Caerphilly town centre.

The incident involved two pedestrians and a car.

In a statement, Gwent Police said: “We received a report of a road traffic collision on the junction of Market Street and North View Terrace, Caerphilly at around 3pm on Tuesday November 19.

“Officers and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Welsh Air Ambulance are in attendance.

“The incident is ongoing.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called shortly after 3pm today to a road traffic accident near Castle Park in Caerphilly.

“We sent two emergency ambulances to the scene, where crews were supported by an advanced paramedic practitioner, a Cymru High Acuity Response Unit paramedic and an operations manager.

“Advanced critical care support was delivered by the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service in a Wales Air Ambulance charity helicopter. Two patients were taken to hospital for further treatment.”

The area was affected by heavy traffic for several hours after the crash.
